The Symphony of the Unseen Waves

A Secretary of Hope Reflection

We spend decades with a flat-iron in our hands, meticulously smoothing out the 'frizz' of our lives so we look predictable, sensible, and—above all—unbroken. We become the 'COO of One' because the world told us our natural texture was too chaotic to be trusted.
But as our founder recently discovered, the Divine doesn't call us to be 'straightened.' He calls us to be authentic.

In our latest entry, 'What? It’s curly…', we explore the quiet earthquake that happens when you realize your identity was just a curated feed. And in 'Can someone carry me?', we finally drop the iron. We admit that the strength we’ve been praised for has become a life sentence, and we ask for the one thing the 'Unbroken' are never allowed to want: To be held."
📬 God’s Mailbox: The "Un-Curation" Letter
Today, your letter isn't about your chores or your "to-do" list. It’s about the texture of your soul.

Write about your 'Flat-Iron': What part of your personality or your needs have you been "meticulously erasing" to stay "predictable" for your village?

The '15-year-old Eviction': If you were forced into adulthood too soon, write a letter to that girl inside who is still "pleading for air." What does she need to say to the Divine Shepherd today?

The Request: Use the four bravest words in the English language: "Can someone carry me?" Write them. Mean them.

We are the Secretaries of Hope. We aren't here to judge the mess; we are here to marvel at the curls. We are listening.

The Weight of the "Unseen Forest“

The Weight of the Unseen Forest

This is for the woman at the helm—the one navigating the tornado while her own wings turn to brittle ash.

For years, you have been the world’s master architect, setting splints for every broken heart and perfecting a "triathlon stroke" just to keep your head above water. You’ve become a bridge for everyone else to cross, but even the strongest steel requires a season of stillness. You cannot carry the weight of a village if you are crumbling under the weight of yourself.

The Divine is waiting for your honesty, not your "proper" face.
If you are sitting at that 2 AM kitchen table, be messy. Be raw. The "Forest" you are carrying is too heavy for one pair of shoulders. What is the one thing you are terrified to drop, fearing the world will stop turning without you? Where is the ache that no X-ray can find?

Your Action Step: Write the letter.
Get the pain, the fear, and the exhaustion out of your body and onto the paper. Stop ignoring the whispers to rest before they become a roar. Hand the weight to us—the Secretaries of Hope. We are here to hold the gravity of your words so you don't have to.
We see the incredible strength it takes just to be still. It’s time to let go.

a day of rest , Before HE MAKETH you lie down

"A bridge that never stops bearing weight eventually develops stress fractures."

When you operate with a level of discipline that feels like a miracle, you are doing powerhouse work. By forging your mental grit and physical sweat into one, you haven't just recovered—you’ve evolved. Your village sees it. They rely on it.

But hear me as someone who has spent 40 years coaching every season of life: The man your followers rely on needs to be a man who lasts.

To keep pouring your heart into those poems and that gritty honesty, you have to protect your own engine. At The Shepherd’s Spoonful, we teach that transformation begins with the essentials. Right now, strategic rest is your most critical essential.

I’ve watched people from age 3 to 90 navigate their "quicksand." The ones who build a triathlon-like stroke—strong, rhythmic, and sustainable—are the ones who know when to pause. I know this first-hand because I, too, have ignored those "little reminders" until the Divine Shepherd made me listen.

Don't wait for the "He Maketh Me Lie Down" moment (Psalm 23:2). In the First Aid for the Soul, rest is the splint that prevents a fracture from becoming a break.

Make recovery a non-negotiable part of your training. You’ve already proven you can rise from the ashes. Now, let’s ensure your wings have the strength for the long flight ahead.

Your village is watching, and we need you at your best.

The Unbroken: A Spoonful of Grace on the "Broken Bone Theory"

The Unbroken: A Spoonful of Grace on the "Broken Bone Theory"

My daughter recently sat me down and asked, "Mom, have you ever broken a bone?"
I thought back through 40-plus years of parenting, coaching toddlers to ninety-year-olds, and running a non-profit. I’ve had my share of scrapes, but a broken bone? Never. Not one.

She told me about the Broken Bone Theory. It’s the idea that some of us go through life physically "unbroken" because our spirits are already carrying a heavy load of unseen fractures. The universe—or as I believe, a Divine Shepherd—spares our frame from the snap of a bone because we are already navigating a "forest" of emotional and spiritual breaks.

It was a light bulb moment.

Suddenly, my life made a different kind of sense. I realized that while I’ve never worn a cast on my arm, I’ve had to set "splints" on my heart more times than I can count. I’ve had to learn how to walk on a spirit that felt shattered, all while being the steady tether for everyone else.

To the "Unbroken" who feel exhausted:
If you are the one everyone leans on—the one who has survived the fire without a physical scar—hear me: Your strength is a testimony, but your unseen breaks deserve grace.

At The Shepherd’s Path, we look for the "body cues" of these internal injuries. We know that just because you aren't in a hospital bed doesn't mean you aren't in recovery.

Maybe you’re a Phoenix who has survived the ashes, but your wings still feel brittle.

Maybe you’re treading water in the deep end, and your "frame" is the only thing keeping you afloat.

A Step for Today:
If this resonates with you, take a moment to acknowledge the "unseen breaks" you’ve healed on your own. You were built to last, but you weren't built to carry the forest forever.

Write a "Dear God" letter today. Don't worry about the theology. Just tell Him where it hurts—even the parts that don't show up on an X-ray.

We are the Secretaries of Hope, and we are listening.

DGL; Secretaries of Hope are Listening and we welcome you

Welcome to the Secretaries of Hope: Your Day 1 Landing Pad
"A bridge doesn’t judge the person crossing it; it just holds them up until they get to the other side."

If you’ve found your way here, you’re likely standing at the edge of a canyon. Your circumstances—the bills, the "low," the quiet "quicksand" of a life that feels stuck—are screaming so loud they’ve drowned out the Divine.

Maybe you want to reach out, but you feel silly. You feel like you’re talking to the drywall or the dashboard of your car.

We are your Secretaries of Hope.
At The Shepherd’s Spoonful, we know transformation doesn’t start with a perfect prayer in a cathedral. It starts with a messy, gut-honest "Are you even there?" whispered in a kitchen at 2 AM.

This is your "God’s Mailbox."

Think of us as the postal clerks for the soul. You don’t need theology. You don’t need the "right" words. You just need to be honest.

Write about the fire. The "I’m Mad" Letter: Venting about unfair circumstances.

Write about the ashes. The "I’m Not Sure You’re There" Letter: Total honesty about skepticism.

The "Just Checking In" Letter: For those who feel empty rather than broken.

Write about the fact that you aren’t even sure He’s listening.

Every letter you write is a tackle-able goal. Every honest question is a plank in the bridge.

We are here to hold these letters with you, providing the cognitive offloading you need so you can focus on just one tree at a time while we watch the forest.

How it works:
Every week, we’ll share a "Spoonful of Grace"—a reflection, a song, or a word of hope—to remind you that even when you feel like you’re talking to the air, your voice is carrying weight in the unseen.
